Philippines : Sagada Food Guide 101

Image
Native, Fresh, Healthy – Sagada is superlative when it comes to food! Aside from extreme outdoor activities, travelers can’t get enough with what locals have to offer, especially the “I've picked my veggies from the backyard" thing. From fresh yogurt to traditional chicken, Sagada will not disappoint your tummy.  Listing down some of my favorites to dine in: Yoghurt House - The homey vibe of Yoghurt House is best known for its homemade yogurts, native chicken and don’t forget the fresh eggplant pasta, too! They have a second floor where you can relax on the balcony. Just bear in mind to go early and have a lot of patience because the serving of food usually takes 30-45 minutes.  Yoghurt House famous Banana Grandola, yum!!! My personal favorite, eggplant pasta Lemon Pie House – The cute little chairs and wooden set up of the interior part of the restaurant makes me want to  imagine I’m dining at the Three Bear and Goldilocks House. Philippines : Go Solo at Camiguin

Image
One time, a friend of mine asked me where is the best place to go "soul-searching" in the Philippines aside from Sagada. She just wanted to have a solo adventure and to think about her life, I mean, seriously think about her life.. probably a little time to rediscover her self. If I will be biased, I will answer the same place she mentioned, but upon seeing Camiguin and knowing its beautiful springs and sand bar, I think this can be a girl's hiding place! Camiguin Island is about 3-4 hours away from CDO. Getting there will be requiring a plane ride going CDO, bus ride going Balingonan, trike ride going ferry terminal, a 45 minutes ferry ride going the island itself and lastly, a habal-habal ride when you go exploring the island. It might cost you to travel via all the types of transportation but the destination is all worth it! The Island is famous for its active volcanoes, resulting in picturesque spots and views. You can totally explore the island in two days, the bes

Philippines : Benguet, Mt. Pulag

Image
Mt Pulag is every mountaineer's dream destination in Luzon. Hailed as the third highest peak in the country, its high altitude and dropping temperature makes it challenging to climb, especially to first-time hikers. Though it might look intimidating, Mt. Pulag can be a good starting point for newbies, with a mossy forest and lots of grasslands, it is a friendly mountain to start your hiking hobby. The main attraction of Mt Pulag is witnessing the sea of clouds at the Summit. It is a lot stunning and dramatic than the sea of clouds of Mt Kiltepan in Sagada. The wide grassland and three summits give us an amazing view worthy of our labor. Here are some tips if your planning to climb : I suggest that if you are planning to climb it, you go and take a group and organized tour package. I highly recommend Travel Factor Agency ( www.travelfactor.org ). They got well-experienced tour leaders and complete survival kit. Why go on a tour package? It is basically to save you from the h

Philippines : Mt Pulag Diaries

Let me start this post with all the rants and epic failure memes. Honestly, there is no so much for me to tell on this trip. I mean, to begin with, I did not even make it to the summit hahaha. We also got a lot of dilemmas starting with the tour permit, long wasted hours of waiting, bad chewy food, had a seriously bad cold due to failure of closing our own tent and sooooo my list goes on. Such a fiasco to think that we are attempting to climb the highest mountain in Luzon- Mt. Pulag.  I always skip Pulag on my list because, well, for obvious reason, I didn't feel confident that I can climb it and hiking is my least favorite. Though I am very curious about it, the way my friends often tells me it is one of the best experiences and the famous sea of clouds is breathtaking. And as if it was destined for me to see it face to face, a friend invited me to join the hike since one of their friends cannot make it. Wondering why I said yes? Well, I will just be paying Php 1,800 all in fo
