Philippines : Sagada Food Guide 101

Native, Fresh, Healthy – Sagada is superlative when it comes to food! Aside from extreme outdoor activities, travelers can’t get enough with what locals have to offer, especially the “I've picked my veggies from the backyard" thing. From fresh yogurt to traditional chicken, Sagada will not disappoint your tummy.

Listing down some of my favorites to dine in:

Yoghurt House - The homey vibe of Yoghurt House is best known for its homemade yogurts, native chicken and don’t forget the fresh eggplant pasta, too! They have a second floor where you can relax on the balcony. Just bear in mind to go early and have a lot of patience because the serving of food usually takes 30-45 minutes.

My personal favorite, eggplant pasta

Lemon Pie House – The cute little chairs and wooden set up of the interior part of the restaurant makes me want to  imagine I’m dining at the Three Bear and Goldilocks House. Their spicy chicken should not be taken lightly, you can request the level of its spiciness from medium to super spicy. The famous lemon pie compliment the spiciness due to its sour taste. You can also take it home, just have to order your lemon pie at least a day before your departure.

Bana’s Café and Resto – Best to dine at breakfast, they offer the best coffee in town! You can choose the coffee to brew, and you can enjoy it with Bana’s  Sagada Veggie Soup.

Bana’s Vegetable Soup, perfect for the cold weather!

Vincents Coffee Shop and Grill – Though Sagada has a curfew of 9PM, you can still chill and have some beer at Vincents. You can also try Sagada mountain tea served with fresh potato fries.  Don’t get mad when the potato will be served after an hour, most of the time, they harvest their potato at the backyard, so once you order, that’s the time they will harvest it. So please, Eat All Of It!

Potatoes straight from the backyard and some mountain tea!

Strawberry Café- The best Yoghurt café ever! Their homemade yogurt with strawberries is a must try and it's enjoyable to eat while sitting on a bonfire. Yes, Strawberry Café has a bonfire starting 6pm outside their café! It's best to experience it since bonfire is the original local way of socials in Sagada.

Freshness!

Rock Inn Restau and Orange picking – Head straight at Rock Inn after cloud viewing in Mt Kiltepan. During Ber Months, they open their Orange Farm for Orange picking, you can eat unlimited oranges and buy them per kilo.  You can have breakfast at their restaurant, try the beef tapa with veggies which you can eat together with your harvested oranges.

Given all these gastronomic experience, Sagada is still the best Happy Place for a foodie like me. Ooh,well, just don’t be  guilty, these are healthy foods and its heaven to eat and eat and eat in the mountain!
